At Newton’s Paints & Crafts on Hardy Street, our Nelson workshops are all about rediscovering creativity — whether you’re brand new to painting and decoupage or a long-time upcycler looking for fresh inspiration.
Our boutique-style workshops are held in our Nelson store, surrounded by colour, texture, and ideas. They’re relaxed, hands-on sessions designed to give you confidence with our range of New Zealand–made Chalk Paints and Malibu Mineral Paints, as well as decorative finishes like stencils, transfers, fibre tissue, decoupage napkins, moulds, and gold leaf.
Each workshop focuses on creating a finished project you can take home — something beautiful, useful, and made entirely by you. Past sessions have included Decoupage & Design, Furniture Painting Basics, and our newest class, Mini Masterpieces, where attendees get to try a bit of everything!

We keep keep classes small, so everyone gets plenty of one-on-one help and time to ask questions. It’s relaxed, creative fun — with lots of chatting, laughter, and “aha!” moments along the way.
🎨 Learn real techniques
You’ll work with the same professional products that we use in-store and online — including Newton’s Chalk Paints, transfers, waxes, and finishing tools — learning the tricks and layering techniques that make each piece unique.

All materials, tools, and refreshments are included — you just bring your imagination (and maybe a friend!).
